Ashok Roy Training Simulator Complex inaugurated at INS Rajali.




A state-of-the-art flight training simulator ‘Ashok Roy Training Simulator Complex’ at INS Rajali for training the air and ground crew of P8I aircraft was dedicated to the nation on 25 Apr 23. The Simulator Complex was inaugurated by Shri Giridhar Aramane, Defence Secretary, Ministry of Defence in presence of Vice Adm Biswajit Dasgupta, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command and Vice Adm Sanjay Jasjit Singh, Vice Chief of Naval Staff and family members of Lt Cdr Ashok Roy VrC, NM from West Bengal.
The training simulator complex is christened as ‘Ashok Roy Training Simulator Complex’ to commemorate distinguished service rendered by Lieutenant Commander Ashok Roy, Vir Chakra, Nausena Medal during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
The Chief Guest complimented Indian Navy’s efforts towards modernising the training standards through use of advanced simulators. He expressed his happiness in inaugurating the modern infrastructure which would provide professional training to the men and women in the Indian Navy, towards operating the P8I.
The Simulator Complex developed the collaboration with M/s Boeing provides a one stop solution for all training requirements of P8I aircrew and technical team aimed towards safe operation and maintenance of the aircraft. The facility would significantly reduce the training requirement on the actual aircraft thereby ensuring higher availability of aircraft for operation missions. The simulator also provides a first-hand experience to the technical team to practice maintenance procedures, with 3D software solutions, including armament handling.
