The Army Commander of the Eastern Command inspected the formations and infrastructure of the units deployed in the super high altitude areas of Sikkim during a two-day visit.

During his two days tour to North Bengal and Sikkim Lt Gen RC Tiwari, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Eastern Command visited the border areas on 01st & 2nd May and reviewed operational preparedness and progress of infrastructure & capability development. The Army Commander was accompanied by GOC Trishakti Corps Lt Gen VPS Kaushik. The Army Cdr appreciated the commanders and troops of Trishakti Corps for maintaining highest standard of Operational Preparedness & efforts towards development of border areas & nation building. Interacting with troops at forward locations, he complimented them for their dedication & high standard of professionalism under most challenging conditions. He exhorted them to continue working with dedication, motivation & enthusiasm. 
The Army Commander called upon the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Lakshman Acharya at Gangtok on 02 May 2024. During the interaction, the Army Cdr apprised the Governor on the overall security situation and initiatives being undertaken to improve connectivity in the state. The Army Commander also briefed on the various welfare projects being undertaken under Operation Sadbhavana. He apprised the Hon’ble Governor that 67 projects worth more than 5 Crores were executed by Trishakti Corps during the last financial year and formation plans to implement projects worth more than 15 Crores in the current financial year. The Army Cdr assured the Hon'ble Governor about Indian Army’s commitment to development of border areas and continued assistance to the Civil Administration and local people.
The Army Commander conveyed gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor for the initiative to construct the ‘Prerna Sthal’ at Burdang, in memory of the Bravehearts lost during the GLOF of 4 Oct 23.
