The 101 Area Rhino of the Indian Army paid heartfelt tribute to the heroes of the 1971 Indo-Pak War at the Prasad Sthal for their service and sacrifice.
On the momentous occasion of the 62nd Raising Day of Headquarters 101 Area, Lieutenant General Sanjay Malik, SM, General Officer Commanding, laid a solemn wreath at the Rhino Prerna Sthal, Shillong, to pay tribute to the fallen heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the nation. The ceremony reflected the formation’s steadfast commitment to honouring the legacy of courage, selflessness and duty.
Since its inception on 22 April 1963, 101 Area has stood as a symbol of operational excellence and dedication. The Raising Day provided a reflective opportunity to honour the formation’s rich history and pivotal contributions in numerous
counter-insurgency operations, disaster relief efforts and humanitarian missions
across the region.
Over the decades, the formation has demonstrated unwavering professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility in support of the nation. It continues to function as a strategic nerve centre, ensuring seamless planning, coordination and operational preparedness across commands.The occasion also served to reaffirm the enduring commitment of all ranks of 101 Area to uphold the highest traditions of the Indian Army, reinforcing their collective resolve to serve with honour, integrity and distinction
