A group of motorcyclists ran across Kolkata flying flags commemorating the sacrifice of the Indian Army for the independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

As a prelude to Vijay Diwas 2024, Headquarters Eastern Command, in collaboration with RedFM, had organised a spirited bike rally in Kolkata. The event aimed to honour the valour and sacrifices of the 1971 war heroes while fostering camaraderie among the Indian Armed Forces and the civil fraternity.
The rally was led by Lieutenant General R.C. Tiwari, UYSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer 
Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, accompanied by bike riders from the Indian 
Armed Forces and from the City of Joy.

 Lieutenant General R.C. Srikanth, VSM, Chief of 
Staff, Eastern Command, flagged off the rally from the historic Fort William.Traversing a route of approximately 25 kilometers, the rally passed through several iconic landmarks of Kolkata, including the Eden Garden, Victoria Memorial, Birla Mandir and South Park Street. The vibrant procession brought the city's streets alive, reflecting unity patriotism and respect for the nation's bravehearts.The rally concluded at the East Gate of Fort William, where the Army Commander paid tribute to the fallen heroes at the Vijay Smarak, accompanied by the riders, that included Mr. Joydeep Banerjee, RedFM Station Head, Kolkata. Other prominent citizens also 
joined in paying homage to the martyrs of the 1971 war.
This inspiring event serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of the 1971 war and the strong bond between the armed forces and the citizens of Kolkata, as the city prepares to celebrate Vijay Diwas 2024 with reverence and pride.
