Sikkim mourns as nature's wrath takes hold! 3 members of the same family killed! Desperate rescue operation underway in darkness.

A massive landslide hit Upper Rimbi village in West Sikkim due to incessant rains. A total of four people, including three from the same family, were killed in the disaster that occurred at midnight. A woman was seriously injured.


On receiving the news of the landslide, the police, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), health department personnel and locals joined hands and launched a rescue operation. Two women were rescued by building a temporary bridge over the flooded river using tree trunks. However, one of them died on reaching the hospital. The condition of the other is critical.
One incident shows the most hopeful light in the operation. A 7-year-old child was rescued alive. The child was quickly admitted to the Gazing District Hospital
