Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth reviewed military preparedness in areas including Siliguri and Nagaland.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth visited the Eastern Command to review the prevailing security situation and the operational preparedness of the Army in Eastern India.
General Dhiraj Seth arrived on a two-day visit to assess the military readiness of the Eastern Command. During his visit to the ‘Trishakti Corps’ on July 14 and 15, 2026, the COAS was briefed on the operational situation of the Eastern Command.
The General Officer Commanding of the Trishakti Corps briefed him on military deployments, surveillance systems, and the prevailing security situation. Additionally, General Dhiraj Seth reviewed various initiatives undertaken to assimilate technology, enhance capabilities, and modernize the force.
On Wednesday, July 15, the Army Chief visited the Bengdubi Military Station in North Bengal. There, he assessed the regional security arrangements and reviewed operational logistics.
During a visit to the 111 Area (Bengdubi) in Siliguri, IG (FTR) Siliguri, Shri Bandan Saxena, met with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Dhiraj Seth (PVSM, UYSM, AVSM). During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed on the overall security situation along the India-Nepal and India-Bhutan borders, joint training between the Army and the SSB, and the interoperability and coordination among the various forces.
General Dhiraj Seth subsequently visited the Spear Corps and reviewed its operational preparedness. Officers in charge briefed him on inter-agency coordination for managing the evolving situation and the measures taken to further enhance combat readiness.
Spear Corps, headquartered at the Rangapahar Military Station in Dimapur, Nagaland, is primarily tasked with conducting counter-insurgency operations, border management, and disaster relief activities across India's northeastern states—specifically Nagaland, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura.
He also reviewed the social initiatives undertaken to foster peace, stability, and development across the North-East region. While interacting with the troops, the Army Chief outlined his future vision, emphasizing vigilance and self-reliance.
He emphasized that these policies would enable the Indian Army to remain rapidly adaptable and future-ready, while simultaneously contributing to the Modi government's 'India Vision 2047'. The Army Chief commended the professionalism, high morale, ability to subdue the enemy, and unwavering commitment displayed by soldiers of all ranks while performing their duties under challenging circumstances.
