CITIZEN SOLDIER PARTNERSHIP FOR CLEAN & GREEN BINNAGURI.

BINNAGURI:

As part of national effort under Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on 02 October 2021, a 'Clean Binnaguri Awareness Drive' was organised by the soldiers of Binnaguri Military Station in coordination with civil populace based on the theme ‘'Citizen Soldier Partnership for Clean & Green Binnaguri’. Indian
Army takes pride in environment conservation as it is intrinsic to its character, ethos and
traditions.
Due to the lack of awareness of hygiene and sanitisation, the Binnaguri town outside the main gate of the Military Station is poorly maintained & does not have any waste disposal facility. As a result of this the civil population used to dump the waste all along the roads just outside their habitat & also across the road along the boundary fence of the Military Station thereby littering the area Under the aegis of Trishakti Corps, the Kripan Division took initiative and interacted
with the officials of civil administration, localmarket committee members and leaders of
local community, to plan & promote "Clean Binnaguri Awareness Drive” towards better
hygiene & beautification of the overall habitat. All the stakeholders agreed that this cleanliness drive needs to be organized with a long term aim of evolving & implementing the best practices for waste disposal and institute disciplinary measures to dissuade people from creating filth.
The event saw youth, children, women and elderly people enthusiastically joining hands with the Army personnel to clean their habitat and area around Binnaguri Military Station A Swachhata Shapath was administered to all the participants on this occasion in local language.
The school children displayed innovative banners promoting Swacchata as also dustbins for biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste were installed. In the end keeping in line with the global outcry for saving the environment and
keeping it green, the locals joined the Army personnel in a tree plantation drive. The local
MLA Mr Manoj Tigga felicitated the winners of drawing competition which was conducted
to enhance awareness on the importance of cleanliness in the environment and
appreciated the efforts of Indian Army towards Nation building. GOC Kripan Division also
appreciated the support provided by local administration towards the success of the
cleanliness and awareness drive The initiative by Indian Army has struck positive chord
with the locals and is sure to bring change in the green cover and cleanliness around
Binnaguri town.
