2023 সালের মে মাস থেকে ভারতের উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় রাজ্য মণিপুরে মেইতিস এবং কুকিদের মধ্যে যে হিংসার পরিস্থিতি তৈরি হয়েছিল তাতে রাজ্য জুড়ে 175 জন নিহত হয়েছেন এবং 4,700 টিরও বেশি বাড়ি পুড়ে ছাই হয়েগেছে।

এখানে জাতিগত হিংসার বর্তমান পরিস্থিতি যদিও সম্পূর্ণ নজিরবিহীন নয়। সম্প্রদায়গুলির মধ্যে কয়েক দশক ধরে অবিশ্বাস, জনগণের প্রকৃত অভিযোগের প্রতি ধারাবাহিক সরকারের উদাসীনতা, সম্পদের অসম বণ্টন, অসম রাজনৈতিক প্রতিনিধিত্ব বলে মনে করছেন অনেক রাজনীতিবিদ। 

ক্রমাগত সংঘর্ষের মধ্যে মণিপুরের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এন বীরেন সিংকে বিরোধী এবং মিত্র উভয় পক্ষ থেকেই কঠোর সমালোচনার মুখোমুখি হতে হয়েছে। যদিও 

কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার এন বীরেনের উপরেই ভরসা রাখছে।  রাজ্য সরকার, পুলিশ , আসাম রাইফেলস ,ভারতীয়  সেনাবাহিনী বর্তমান পরিস্থিতির উপর নজর রাখছে বলে শনিবার ফোর্ট উইলিয়ামে জানালেন ভারতীয় সেনাবাহিনীর পূর্বাঞ্চলীয় প্রধান লেফটেন্যান্ট জেনারেল আর পি কলিতা। তিনি বলেন এখনও দুই গোষ্ঠীর কাছেই অস্ত্র রয়েছে তাই সংঘর্ষকে পুরোপুরি নির্মূল করা যায় নি মণিপুরে।

Since May 2023, violence between Meitis and Kukis in India's northeastern state of Manipur has left 175 people dead and more than 4,700 houses burnt to ashes across the state.

The current situation of racial violence here is not entirely unprecedented, however. Decades of mistrust among communities, indifference of successive governments to the genuine grievances of the people, unequal distribution of wealth, unequal political representation are what many politicians feel. 

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has faced severe criticism from both opposition and allies amid the ongoing clashes. Although 

The central government is counting on N Biren. The state government, police, Assam Rifles, Indian Army are keeping an eye on the current situation, Indian Army Eastern Chief Lt. Gen. RP Kalita said in Fort William on Saturday. He said both the groups still have weapons so the conflict has not been completely eradicated in Manipur.
