Jharkhand capital Ranchi will host EASTTECH 2025 from September 17-19, aiming to boost defence self-reliance and industrial growth.
In a significant move to strengthen indigenous defence capabilities and foster regional industrial collaboration, the *Government of India* has officially announced the conduct of *EAST TECH 2025*, to be held in *Ranchi* from *17–19 September 2025*. The announcement was made during a press conference chaired by *Hon’ble Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth*, in the presence of *Mr Ramesh Kumar*, Director General, Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers *(SIDM); Mr Sanjay Sabarwal, CII Regional Chairperson (MSME); Maj Gen Sajjan Singh Maan and Brig Raj Kumar* who co-chaired the session.
Organised by Headquarters *Eastern Command* in collaboration with the *Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM)*, the conclave will spotlight the region’s potential in *defence innovation* and serve as a *key platform* for *military-civil* industry collaboration.
Shri Sanjay Seth highlighted the *Government of India’s* commitment to *Atmanirbhar Bharat* and lauded the *Indian Army’s Eastern Command* for hosting the conclave in a region with immense potential in infrastructure, skilled manpower, and natural resources. He emphasised that *EAST TECH 2025* will reinforce Eastern India’s growing role in national defence preparedness.
During the press conference, it was announced that Eastern Command, in partnership with SIDM, will soon release a set of *Problem Definition Statements (PDS)* to guide industry stakeholders on current operational needs in areas such as surveillance, mobility, communication, and force protection. A dedicated webinar will disseminate these, opening avenues for vendor alignment, registration, and participation.
*EAST TECH 2025* is expected to host over 200 defence and technology vendors, including *50+ MSMEs and start-ups, along with DRDO, DPSUs*, and leading private sector firms. The event will feature live demonstrations, technical briefings, and product showcases, encouraging collaborative innovation.
The initiative aims to position Eastern India as a vital contributor to India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem and pave the way for its inclusion in a future *Defence Industrial Corridor.*
By anchoring local industry and academia, the *Indian Army* seeks to enhance *operational readiness* while contributing to the *economic and technological empowerment* of the region.
