SSB Director General Shri Sanjay Singhal inspected the security arrangements along the India-Nepal border during the 80th Independence Day celebrations held at the Panitanki Border Outpost in Siliguri.

On the auspicious occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Shri Sanjay Singhal, IPS, Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), visited the India-Nepal border with Vandan Saxena,Inspector General, Ftr Siliguri on August 14 and 15, 2026. During the visit, he inspected the Panitanki Border Outpost (BOP) under the 41st Battalion (Ranidanga) and the Baramniramjot BOP under the 8th Battalion (Khaprail). He reviewed various aspects related to border security arrangements, surveillance, operational preparedness, and security in the border region.
The Director General interacted with the force personnel deployed at the border, gathered information about their operational procedures and preparedness, and issued necessary directives to make border security more effective and robust.

During the tour, Director General Shri Sanjay Singhal participated in the 80th Independence Day celebrations held at the Panitanki Border Outpost; he first planted a sapling to convey a message of a clean environment and then hoisted the national flag. Addressing the officers and personnel present on the occasion, he emphasized dedication to the nation, devotion to duty, and the importance of border security, while extending Independence Day greetings to everyone
On this occasion, the Director General honored three officers from the Siliguri Frontier with the Director General's Disc and the Director General's Commendation Roll in recognition of their outstanding performance. He also welcomed distinguished guests visiting from Nepal and presented them with sweets on the occasion of Independence Day.
They also enjoyed cultural performances by students and artists from the Naxalbari Dance Group and Nritya Shakti Dance Academy, as well as a jazz band performance by the Seemant Siliguri band. The atmosphere during the band's performance was imbued with patriotism and a spirit of nationalism. On this occasion, they presented prizes and sweets to the village children and the participants.

He inspected a drone demonstration at the Baramniramjot Border Outpost of the 8th Battalion and reviewed border surveillance, security arrangements, and technical capabilities facilitated by drones. He emphasized the proper use of modern technology to further strengthen and enhance the effectiveness of border security. Subsequently, the Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) dined with the troops.
