On Friday afternoon, a passenger vehicle arriving from Nepal met with an accident and overturned—tilting onto its side—on the road between BOP Batashe and BOP Kalpokhari. The vehicle was carrying three passengers from the Chorichak area of Nepal who were traveling from Kalpokhari towards Manebhanjan.
Upon receiving news of the accident, personnel from the RRT and BOP Batasi—led by Inspector (GD) K. K. Jou and Inspector (GD) Raj Kishore Singh and operating under the supervision of SSB Commandant Shri Sanjeev Kumar—arrived at the scene; the SSB personnel safely extricated three injured individuals from the overturned vehicle and provided them with first aid and oxygen.
Tobigal, Pushpay, and Mandeep from Nepal sustained serious injuries. where Tobigal passed away while undergoing treatment and was declared dead by the doctors. After receiving first aid, the critically injured Pushpay was transferred to Darjeeling Hospital for advanced medical care.
