The Eastern Command Investiture Ceremony was conducted on 22 January 2022 at Garrison Battalion Parade Ground in Fort William, Kolkata to confer various awards for personnel and units who have distinguished themselves by acts of individual gallantry and exceptional dedication to duty and units that have performed well towards operational preparedness. Events such as these are important part of Indian Army tradition that 
recognizes and celebrates outstanding performances by serving personnel & units.
The event was presided over by Lt General Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM, GOC-in-C Eastern 
Command and attended by senior military officers, award winners and their families. During 
the solemn occasion which commemorates the gallantry and dedication to duty of Service 
personnel, 29 Sena Medals (Gallantry), eight Sena Medals (Distinguished) and ten Vishisht 
Seva Medals were presented to the deserving individuals by the Army Commander. 
On this occasion, 26 units of various Arms and Services who have performed exceedingly 
well during their deployment in Eastern Theatre were also awarded with the coveted Unit 
Appreciation of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command. Four units were 
also awarded Chief of Army Staff Appreciation for their performance during Operation 


The Army Commander, later interacted with the award winners and their families and 
acknowledged their invaluable contribution in upholding the highest standards of 
professionalism of the Indian Army.
