BRAVEHEARTS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN SIKKIM ROAD ACCIDENT SENT OFF WITH FULL MILITARY HONOURS.

The mortal remains of all the sixteen Bravehearts who lost their lives in the tragic road accident at North Sikkim on 23 Dec 22 were sent off from Bagdogra Airport with full military honours. Honourable Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri PS Tamang and Lt Gen VPS Kaushik, YSM, SM, GOC Trishakti Corps paid homage to the Bravehearts in a solemn Wreath Laying ceremony organized at Bagdogra Airport.   

Post the accident on 23 Dec morning, all the bodies were recovered by afternoon and brought to Chatten. Meanwhile, army authorities swung into action at all levels, to coordinate smooth movement of the mortal remains to respective native places of the Bravehearts. By early morning of 24 Dec 22, the bodies were brought to STNM Hospital, Gangtok for Post Mortem. Once the post mortem procedures were complete, the mortal remains were flown from Gangtok to Bagdogra Airport by three helicopters of the Indian Air Force. 

Post the Wreath Laying ceremony, fifteen of the mortal remains were flown by special Air Force aircrafts to various airports in the country. The mortal remains will further be moved by helicopter/vehicle to their native towns/villages. Each of the mortal remain is being escorted by personnel from their units. The mortal remains of Naib Subedar Chandan Kumar Mishra who belonged to Khagaria, Bihar is being moved by road. On arrival at the respective native places, local Army authorities will coordinate the handing over of mortal remains to the family members and conduct of funeral with full military honours.
