Indian Army Empowers Remote Village in East Sikkim with Solar Street Lights and RO Water Plant under Operation Sadbhavana Initiative.

The Indian Army has taken a significant stride toward sustainable development and community welfare by providing essential infrastructure to a remote village along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in East Sikkim under its flagship mission “Operation Sadbhavana” The village, nestled amidst the rugged terrain, lacked access to basic amenities such as electricity and clean water.


In a noble effort to uplift the lives of the villagers, the Indian Army installed 10 solar street lights in the village. These solar-powered lights will illuminate the narrow pathways, enhancing safety and security during the evenings. The use of renewable energy not only reduces the village’s dependence on conventional power sources but also contributes to environmental conservation.

Additionally, the Indian Army established an RO water plant to address the criticality of clean drinking water by the villagers. Clean and safe drinking water is now readily available, ensuring better health and well-being for the community. The villagers have expressed their heartfelt appreciation for this thoughtful initiative.

Under the vision of Tri Shakti Corps, the project was successfully completed emphasizing on the Army’s commitment to serve the people living in challenging and remote conditions. The inauguration ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local leaders, representative from civil administration and villagers, who gathered to celebrate this milestone. Local leaders, women, and children expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army for this transformative intervention.

The Indian Army’s efforts exemplify the spirit of service and compassion, reinforcing the bond between the armed forces and the local populace. As the sun sets over the Himalayan peaks, the glow of the solar lights symbolizes hope and progress for the resilient villagers of East Sikkim.
