ARMY SOLDIERS AVERT MAJOR DISASTER AT CHANGGU IN EAST SIKKIM.

Indian Army soldiers averted a major disaster in the early morning of 06 Nov 2021 when they turned firefighters and doused a huge fire in the dead of the dark.

After the fire broke out at Tsomgo market complex at around 0325AM, the Army Camp was alerted, and immediately, the troops of the Trishakti Corps rushed to the site of the incident.  The timely response by the fire fighting party of local army troopers helped in the containment of the spread of fire.
The troops without caring for their own safety, quickly cut off the electric supply and cordoned the shops on fire. 11 fire fighting groups of Army prepared fire lane around shops and isolated the burning shops from remaining market. The fire was contained and not allowed to spread to neighbouring shops.
The army soldiers in the finest traditions of the Indian Army worked relentlessly to save human lives and material, and the raging fire was brought under control by around 0530 AM
