SUBARNO JAYANTI BARSO : 4TH INDO-BANGLADESH JOINT CYCLING EXPEDITION .

To commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh, Suborno Jayanti Barso, a Joint Indo-Bangladesh Army Cycling Expedition (387 Km), led by 40 personnel from both armies commenced from Jessore (Bangladesh) on 15 November 2021.  This is the fourth cycling expedition of its kind and on 19 November 2021 it entered India through Gede International Crossing Point where they were welcomed by the Commander of the Rudra Brigade and Deputy Inspector General, 158 Border Security Force Battalion at the Border Out Post.  A cultural show was organised for the expedition which was followed by a group photograph and interaction over tea.  On 20 November 2021, the expedition was further flagged off by Commander A Parida (senior most veteran) at Krishnanagar to Barrackpore Military Station.  A welcome ceremony was organised at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club Stadium, Barrackpore with an exquisite display of Pipe Band, Khukri and Chenda dances by troops.  Lieutenant Colonel S R Dasgupta and Sepoy Haridas Palwere, veterans of the 1971 War were also felicitated by the team.
On 21 November 2021, the team visited various historical monuments of Kolkata such as Victoria Memorial, Birla Planetarium and the Indian Museum, reliving the rich history and culture of India.  The joint expedition culminated on 22 November 2021 at Fort William, Kolkata where it was flagged in by Lieutenant General , KK Repswal, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Eastern Command.
This joint expedition renewed bonds created between both Nations 50 years ago and shall further promote defence cooperation at all levels.
