Union Home Minister Amit Shah was addressing a function organized at the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Siliguri Frontier Headquarters on Friday. During this, he laid the foundation stone of the Jawan Bay Motor Garage and Officer Housing Project in the subordinate officer under the BSF's transit office in Jalpaiguri, as well as various projects under the 19th Battalion and 12th Battalion.

He said that through these projects, the Border Security Force personnel engaged in the security of Siliguri Corridor will get a lot of convenience.

Why is Siliguri Corridor important?

Union Minister Shah said the new projects will modernise border infrastructure, enhance operational preparedness and improve facilities for our brave soldiers. He said the project plays a vital role in protecting India's borders with Nepal and Bhutan and securing the strategically important Siliguri Corridor connecting the Northeast with the rest of India.
