TRISHAKTI CORPS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES TREKKING, CYCLING AND MOTORCYCLE EXPEDITIONS.

In an initiative to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Trishakti Corps conducted multiple events under the theme TRISHAKTI SHAURYA MAHOTSAV’ from 12th to 21st Jun 2022. As part of the event, Trekking, cycling and motorcycle expeditions were conducted, which were successfully 'flagged in' at Lachung in North Sikkim on 20 Jun 2022.  

The trekking expedition was flagged off on 12 Jun 2022 by General Officer Commanding, Striking Lion Division from Tamze. Traversing through rugged and inhospitable terrain, the team trekked a distance of 75 km over an altitude of 15000 ft and finally reached Lachung in North East Sikkim on 20 Jun 2022. 


The motorcycle expedition was flagged off from Sukna on 15 Jun 2022 by Lieutenant General Tarun Kumar Aich, AVSM, General Officer Commanding,  Trishakti Corps.  The team comprising of a joint team of 20 riders from Indian Army, ITBP, Sashashtra Seema Bal and Sikkim Police was led by Major General Arvind Yadav of Trishakti Corps. The expedition team traversed over hilly areas of West Bengal and Sikkim and covered 450 km of difficult terrain over a period of six days, traversing the Old Silk Route and passing through Rangpo, Zuluk, Sherathang, Mangan, Chungthang, Chatten and Gurudongmar lake.  The riders crossed the formidable Dongkya La pass at 18156 ft, the first ever biking team to do so.  The expedition was themed on Soldiers and Citizens: Together towards Strength and Prosperity and was sponsored by Royal Enfield and Indian Oil Corporation.  

The cycling expedition was flagged off from Giagong in North Sikkim on         19 Jun 22. The team comprising of 50 cyclists from Indian Army as well as civilians cycled 75 km in two days through the challenging terrain of North Sikkim including the Dongkya La pass. The aim of the expedition was to generate spirit of unity between Army and citizens, showcase Indian Armys commitment towards development of border areas, encouragement for adventure activities and showcase scenic beauty and opportunity of tourism in Sikkim.  


As part of culmination of Trishakti Shaurya Mahotsav, a cultural festival was held at Lachung on 21 Jun 2022 in which, Military band and local cultural groups performed in a unique display of Civil-Military fusion.
