INDIAN ARMY MARKS 75 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE WITH A MEGA REGATTA.

Indian Army's Eastern Command organized a mega boat race on Teesta-Mahananda Lnk Canal, in commemoration of 75 years of Indian Independence. The event was part of lowering of 75 boats on the 75th Independence Day and was conducted in the historic Teesta- Mahananda Corridor through which Trishakti Corps & our brethren from East Pakistan had launched operations for capture of Hilli, Rangpur & Bogra, thereby facilitating liberation of Bangladesh. 




The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by 18 teams from Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Central Armed Police Forces & NCC. Besides the boat race, the audience was treated with an inspiring performance of martial arts by soldiers of the Kripan Division.



A large number of veterans also graced the  occasion and cheered the participants.The event was also attended by senior officials from the Civil Administration, Forest & Irrigation Departments of West Bengal & Sikkim. Major General Ritu Raj Raina, SM, VSM Chief of Staff Trishakti Corps appreciated the enthusiastic participation, camaraderie & sportsmanship displayed by the participants.  He said that the event was a befitting tribute to the all those who sacrificed for Indian freedom struggle and an expression of synergy and commitment of Indian Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces & Civil administration in the service of the Nation.
