kolkata will host the four week long tournament Durand Cup 2021. Scheduled between 5th september to 3rd October

 The 2021 Durand Cup will be the 130th edition of the Durand Cup, the oldest football tournament in Asia and 3rd oldest in the world, since the tournament's founding in 1888.Kolkata will be hosting the Tournament. The Durand Cup considered to be Blue Riband Trophy of Indian Football will be held under the Patronage of the Three Services, Army ,Navy and Air Force. The Tournament will be held under the dynamic support of Hon’able Mamata Banerjee Chief Minister of Government of West Bengal . The All India Football Federation , Govt and Bengal and Indian Air Force will be providing extensive support for the conduct of the Tournament.

A total of 16 teams will participated in this year's competition. 6 teams from ISL , 6 from I- League and 4 armed forces teams will participate this year . Durand Cup, is an annual domestic Football competition in India  which was first held in 1888 in Annadale , Shimla.In 1940 the venue of the tournament was shifted to Delhi.

 

 Following India's independence in 1947, the tournament was hosted by the Indian Armed Forces, with Durand Football Tournament Society being headed by three Service Chiefs.

The most successful teams are currently East Bengal and Mohun Bagan who accounting for no less 32 cup victories over the years, with 16 wins each.The holding of the tournament in Kolkata and adjoining areas such as Kalyani and Howrah will give a impetus to football in West Bengal.So Football lovers , can now look forward to watch some keen domestic football from 16 Sepember to 03 October 2021.
