Floods wreak havoc in Nepal, India was the first to respond; sent 10 tons of relief supplies

India's Aid For Nepal Floods: Following the devastating flash floods in Nepal, India sent 10 tons of relief supplies and essential medicines. Medical supplies, blankets, and relief materials were delivered by an IAF C-130J aircraft.

Playing its role as a first responder in natural disasters, India on Wednesday sent 10 tonnes of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) material and essential medicines following the devastating flash floods in Nepal.
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, while giving this information on X, said that 10 tons of relief material and essential medicines have been dispatched to Nepal to deal with the floods. He said that our condolences go out to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragedy and India stands with Nepal and its people in this difficult time.

According to sources in the Ministry of External Affairs, an Indian Air Force C-130J aircraft left for Nepal carrying relief material, including temporary shelter material, blankets, hygiene kits, solar lamps and essential medicines.

Air Force helicopters deployed

"More relief supplies will be delivered using C-17 and C-130 aircraft, and helicopters have been deployed for rescue and evacuation operations. From the sky to the ground, operating with speed, agility, and precision, delivering hope when it's needed most," the Air Force wrote.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah over the phone and expressed condolences over the loss of life in the floods and assured all possible humanitarian assistance.

Prime Minister Modi stated that the people of India stand in solidarity with their brothers and sisters in Nepal during this difficult time. He stated that India stands ready to provide all possible assistance for relief and rescue operations, and that teams from both countries are working in coordination.
